Hello,
New to forum and new to large farm equipment. Since I don't know anything about dozers and crawlers, I'll have to start off by asking questions.

I saw an HD6 for sale. Very nice condition, undercarriage, engine all decent. No blade or hydraulics. Seller says the crawler was bought new that way for Agriculture use.
Can hydraulics be added with any reasonable effort?

Hydraulics can be added,a blade can be added as well. The hard part is finding a blade of the right size to fit tractor. Back in the day this was new there where complete units made to bolt to rear of tractor,still around but generally very worn out in most cases. Today us components of a pump, control valve ,and tank all plumed together. You would need to know what you wish to power to get the right amount of flow and pressure to be successful.

I was just looking at components to replace all in one unit on a old Cat from Surplus Center that has the best prices I have found.

You should find a HD6 parts book to find how the OEM hydraulics were installed. The grill area on a HD6 bulldozer is different from an HD6 track loader. Both have front mounted hydraulic pumps. Installing OEM hydraulics will be difficult because the hydraulics are integrated into the machine. If the ag machine has a PTO then you have an easier option.

Looks like I'll need to scrounge a bit. This particular machine appears to be in very good condition. But, there is no point in me buying it without a blade.

Parts Manual. Why didn't I think of that? Ebay !

I think you're right. There is an HD5 (not quite the same but, will do.) for sale @$3500. Complete and running with blade. Undercarriage is much more worn, though. Still would do o.k. for me. Shipping cost kills that deal.
