Bought a 12v genny off of a Gleaner E engine. Pulley is much larger than the one on the alt I'm removing. Also does not have a fan. D17 book shows a fan on the "correct" genny. D17, Gleaner E, and WD pulleys all have different part numbers.What should the diameter be?

Aaron, may also check where the generator mounts, seems most generators off a combine were a inch longer

That it is, Bill. Going to have to put a spacer in there. Book says it should run at 1.9x the crank speed. Anyone know the crank pulley diameter? I can do the math from there.

To be precise in calculating the generator speed, you need to use the pitch diameter of the pulleys, not the outside diameter. The outside diameters is closer than the totally wrong pulley. You probably can take the pulley off the old generator and put it on the new generator and solve the problem without measuring and calculating and get the cooling fan at the same time. Generally for a long time period generators and alternators all used the same exact shaft end.

Trick is I'm going from an alternator back to a genny. I have a 6v off of a WD I could use the pulley and fan off of. Have to get a tape and do some measuring.

If you have a Delco "SI" Alternator, and a Delco Generator (6V or 12V) the pulley size should be the same .670 shaft. Should go right on.
