I went and looked at a 55 wd45 today. Hand clutch slips front tires are junk and rear tires are bald. Comes with a 3 bottom snap coupler plow. Sheet metal is all there and is decent. He wants 3 grand I think he's nuts! What do you all think? I'm thinking 1500 tops? ?

He is nuts. $1500 is even a bit high for me. $1200 IF you really want it. I paid $2000 for mine last year. Only needed a muffler and minor tune up. No problems with hand clutch, sheet metal straight as an arrow and decent tires.

I have a spare 3 disk clutch but it's a bear replacing it. I think 15 is being nice. It's useless with a bad hand clutch. I'm sure I could find a better one for 1500. I got the well the tires hold air comment. Lol.

Way too much. Have one available for that price, includes good tires, wide front and factory ps and original 6v.

I didn't know they came 6 volt. Thought the wd45 was when they changed to 12 volt

For 3 grand I could throw in another 2-3 and buy a bucket tractor. I feel like he thinks it's made of gold. I don't know if I should go offer him what it's really worth or find a better tractor. I feel we are way to far apart.

The $1200. figure seems right to me. $1500. seems generous for the tractor you described. Tires alone are expensive. I have a 1955 WD-45 wide front. It's a nice driving tractor and handy. They did come out as 6 volt tractors. My grandfather was an A-C dealer back then in Jerseyville, IL.

Believe the only 12v WD45's were the diesel models

Cool well I learned something today about the 6 volt 12 volt. Yeah tires are probably around 15. I think we're to far apart

WOW 3 GRAND . I think 700$-800$ is a generous price with bald tires and a bad hand clutch.JMHO.

Yeah I think so. Nobody will ever buy it for that price. I don't think I can offer him what it's worth without insulting him.

I'm thinking that $700 is a fair offer. No tires and the plow is only worth $150. Unless I am out of touch and I don't think so... As a project tractor... because you never know what else is wrong until you get into it. I don't think I would even say anything to him, just walk away from that one.

That price is too high, but the tractor isn't scrap either, it should be saved. The clutch could be just an adjustment, and if it could be bought for the right price, adding tires, if it runs good already, wouldn't too bad. Possibly used tires could be found if you aren't in too much of a hurry. What about the rear rims, do they have calcium damage?

I agree the tractor isn't scrap. I've replaced these clutches on a wd before. I have a 3 disk clutch for the wd45. I might ask him if I can pop the cover off and look at it to see if there's any shims left. The tires if I could purchase this for a way lower price would be replaced with new. The rear rims have calcium in them and appear good on the outside.

I doubt that it would even bring $750 in my area..

Let us know how you come out on this. When you are walking away, you could go; "oh, by the way, if you are serious about selling this, your price is a little too high." and then explain why the price is too high to him. Possibly he might understand.

I'll let you guys know. I won't be able to go back until next weekend. I kinda am thinking it's not worth but a grand. Nice 3 bottom plow. Has the hitch somewhere he said. Haven't heard it run so I'll give an update on it next weekend.

Yes 3 grand is nuts! For what your describing somewhere between $800.00 and $1200.00 depending on how they are valued in your area maybe a little higher than that. If the plow is in good shape that should be worth at least $100.00 so I would also take that into consideration. Also check if the brakes are good if they need replaced then I would offer no more than $800.00 replacing the brakes is relatively involved and parts add up fast. Keep in mind a complete professionally restored gas model is worth roughly $5000.00 while a diesel is more around $10,000.00 in my experience. Hope that helps!

I see what you are saying, had a guy wanted $3500 for one, had new rims, fair tires, bad clutch and a knock in the motor, I just said, I can't make you an offer, it would embarrass both of us, that was 2 or 3 years ago and he still has it.

Lol yeah. I want to hear it run. Then I'm going to think about it and ask how firm he is on the price

I think it's one of those deals it's sentimental value over actual value. I don't really want to sell it but... if you give me triple what it's worth I'll sell it.

The guys are correct that sounds like a $1000 tractor at best if is not worn out and runs good. Better at $800 or less. Just costs a lot for tires and lots of little things. Maybe ask him why he thinks its worth what he is asking? I think if you offered him $1500 and he wanted to really sell it then you might own it! Good luck, Regards, Chris
