I read in one of my Allis books that Allis chalmers made a proto type self propelled swather, but never put it into production. Did they ever buy one and re-badge and sell it as an allis? Thanks for any information, Darrel

They actually built several different prototypes. The earliest one I have seen pictures of was a pipe frame machine with a B125 power unit, I would guess to have been built around 1950. There was one or two later units in the 60s none of which made it into production. Now with that said who knows if AC didn't rebadge a few built by some one else and marketed them?

I found the craigslist ad, looks like a Versetile or a Hesston to me. would be interesting to see if it is badged and AC or if the seller just assumed judging by the color.

The museum in Laporte IND has pictures of the prototypes, I saw them at the GOTO.

Maybe Case (which I believe was built by Hesston)?

I was lookin at the one there on Craigslist, thus the question. The guy was going to look for some badging on it and get back to me. He was pretty certain it's allis, and even knows where there is another one like it. To me, it looked very Hesston ish. Darrel

Looks Heston to me. As I remember from 40 years ago on hilly ground pull the one lever to correct and not correcting enough so pull a little harder and reverse that side and spin around until you learn just how hard to pull. I know Case re badge some of the Heston.
