Fed cows with the 190 tonight and half way through I hit the clutch and it kept on going. I looked through the inspection hole and I see one of the finger adjusting screws is gone. Has anyone ever successfully changed or installed these screws through the inspection hole? What size bolt is it, and can a guy get just the screw? Hate to split it just for that. Any help is greatly appreciated.

IF IF IF you can get something of the approximate length wedged up in there and then tack weld it, it should work until you can fix it properly.

I think if I unhook the clutch linkage I can gain a little extra room to thread a bolt in there. Maybe with the kids help, my Neanderthal hands not so sure about. I wish I knew for sure the thread size and type, being that it will be hard to tell if it is the improper size or just the lack of access that is making it a tough go. I would think someone would have access to a pressure plate that is not in a tractor.

Might as well split it. By the time you try and try and try and might get them in and find throw out bearing is bad after all. Split it. MACK

I had that happen to me several years ago. I done like Mack said and went ahead and split it and had the clutch & pressure plate rebuilt. I put in new throw out bearing and made sure the spot welds on pressure plate were good.

Hopefully Rick will get on here, or one of the vendors..... Got any grandkids Josh (with small hands) who can help you out? As Shameless says, "that sucks!"

I have an assortment of kids age 8, 6, 4, and 2. I would say I have around 800 hours on the clutch and 250hrs on the throw out bearing. I would split it if it didn't have a loader on it. The loader makes splitting twice as much work.

Yep...it is a pain to split the tractor when it has a loader on it! Just recently done that same thing and hope it's a while before it needs another one. Hopefully, the screw fell out of the way and not anywhere inside the unit. Just hope it doesn't cause any problems later. I would probably try to put another screw in the finger first. We always use the screw with a jamb nut to keep it from backing out or screwing in. Good luck! Rick

Yes I can and the throw out bearing seems fine. I found the screw with a scope and retrieved it with a magnet. This evening I am going to see if the 6 year old can get this started in the hole for me. I hope he don't drop it.

Well I think I come out okay on this. I had a short conversation with Rick today, very nice fellow. After retrieving the screw I did tie a feed sack string to the area between the bolt head and the jamb nut, this was done after gauging the distance between them to make sure they contact the bearing about the same. My 6 year old had a fun time trying to get the bolt started, but was only able to cross thread it twice. I was able to get in myself, and thank God for flex headed gear wrenches. We are up and running. I checked the other 2 screws and they were loose as well. I got about a full turn on both of them. I wish I knew why they were loose? I adjusted the free play in the pedal as well, It had about an inch to much, set to two inches now.
