I thought it was with the early 2000/3000 but I'm not sure. Did they paint some of the hundreds (600, 700, 800, 900) blue and grey? I've found one that I might go look at and I think it's a 2000 but just want to be more confident. The owners inherited it and don't know. They say it has gas in the oil so I'll be looking at scrap price or a package deal on a C60 dump truck. not sure, but the neighbor bought a new 2000 ford in 1966 and that was the first all blue one I ever seen, I know there were some earlier then that that were trimmed in blue. I know some of the early 2000/3000 tractors were gray trimmed in blue, engine trans. axels were blue and hood, fenders were still gray. ------------- 190XT 2WD45 WF D15 D14 CA BIG10 302 & 303 bailers 77G rake 80R mower 6 plows and alot more |

When I worked at a Ford dealer in Atlanta during the 80's we were told that the change was made in January of 1962 when Ford introduced the 4 cylinder 2000 & 4000 tractors, the 6000 Commander wasn't changed until 1963. My boss back then was around when the change was happening and he told us that it was a big move in Fords eyes and dealers were quietly asked to move anything red to the back rows and be sure nothing but blue was seen up front at the dealership. | Have heard from Ford owners that when the other tractor mfg came out with new models Ford got caught with nothing to compete with them. So they just painted there tractors blue trying to bluff the customers into thinking it was a new model. |

I believe I read somewhere once that the blue + gray color change, which did begin in the early 60's with the 1000 series, was part of the corporation's initial efforts to bring the American line and their British Fordson line together. British Fordsons were produced in a few different shades of blue over the years with the reddish orange wheels. The final Super Majors and Super Dextas were changed to the Blue and Gray scheme. After their production run ended, the British line dropped the "son" and the new 1000 series was produced on both sides of the pond with little variation. All tractors became the familiar shade of blue with white wheels from that point on .

| The 62-64 4-cylinder 2000 and 4000 were blue and white. These should not be confused with the 1965 and later 3-cyl. tractors which were completely different. The 3-cyl models were derived from the English "Dextra" diesel. |

The color change on the 6000 was when they were recalled and rebuilt. The first 6000's SOS trans just wasn't ready to go to the field.
