Anyone have a good source for a complete front end rebuild kit ? Not the differential just the outer bushings/bearings/seals/Ujoints etc ? Just priced out at Agco and had a small heart failure LOL.

Thanks Mark

I can't imagine being able to find ANY parts for those FWA axles other than an AGCO dealership. The axle was made by a company called SIGE from Europe and all their parts are unique.

I spent around 14 grand on my 8070 it was high but as long a it gets greased and taken care of it should last another 10000 hours.

I'm not sure, but look up a Moog 486 U-Joint.  It states it is a 4.1 inch across u-joint that is for Deutz and Allis front steer axles made by SIGE.  I couldn't find a whole lot more information on the internet, but if you can find a good parts guy with a moog catalog, that should be more helpful.  It looks like everywhere is about 2 weeks lead time on them.  This might be the part AGCO is selling?  It can be found for around $160 +/- on the internet.  If it fits, that savings would add up after 4 of them.

Amazon can get them:

This place is where I got the 4.1 inch across dimension:

This website lists applications for Allis and Deutz steer Sige axles:

I don't know about today, but they were an independent company back when we sourced the axle from them.

Thanks for replies guys,

Currently Dana/Spicer own SIGE and they are looking for a possible kit which is probably not available. I am located in Alberta Canada so right now our exchange rate on Agco parts coming from the US is really poor. If I would have known I needed a rebuild 1 year ago it would have been a smaller pill to swallow so to speak LOL.

Actually the Agco U-joints are not that bad at $419Can/293USD per side complete. Its just the rest of the seals bearings/bushings etc that add up.

Thx Mark

Just gonna bump this...

Has anyone tried to see if the Moog 486 fits the Sige FWA axle?

I might be way off on this, but did John Deere and Allis Chalmers both use the same company for their front ends.

We used a Moog 486 on an 8050 FWD.  The last one came from a regional truck drive line company, I think they found one in a warehouse in Nebraska.  Years ago we ordered one thru NAPA and it showed as a Precision Brand U Joint, it was about $100 cheaper than Agco.  I think Precision is owned by Moog now.  I'm a little surprised how hard they are to come by these days, especially compared to truck u joints.  A mechanic friend of ours said he thought the aftermarket u joint fit a little loose in the end cap mount, but we didn't notice any play.  The mounting bolts for the U Joint are even crazier in price, they are a hex head bolt w/metric fine threads, but in order to have enough clearance they went with a smaller than std hex head.   At one time they cost $7 each, last time I checked they wanted $28 each.  A std metric hex head bolt with that thread cost $1 each.  I scrounged a couple used ones from a helpful dealer's salvage axle the last time we worked on our tractor.

Could the $1 dollar bolt head be turned enough to work

Good to know, Thanks. Mine aren't that bad but if they're getting scarce I better start sourcing them now.

I'm not familiar with these fronts but could a allen head style be used? Probably a clearance problem some where.....

Its been a while since we worked on ours, I'm not sure you can get at an allen head bolt.  I ordered std head metric bolts from Tacoma so we can modify them if we need to.  There were a few more on a dealer's burned salvage unit, too, but would have had to heat them to get them to turn out(maybe they'd come out).
