I have a series I 190, serial # 14445 that I'm draining engine & Trans-rear end fluids. Anyone know these two oil capacities with new filter?? Does rear-end use universal hydraulic oil?? Thanks. I have ordered operators manual, but its still in the mail.

Ed, Yes I got it bought. Engine runs great. The 301 is as snappy on its throttle as everyone on here talks about for these tractors.

While draining rear fluids on this 190, I came across what appears to be an addition hydraulic hose?? The front of this additional hydraulic hose attaches to the drain port under the PD-hydraulic housing, then extends rearward about 2' where it then attaches into the drain port of the Transmission housing. My manual does mention anything about it, so I'm assuming that somebody added it? Why would this be added? Anyone else on this forum every find such a hose on other 190s?

I think I've seen that before. A crude way to deal with oil transferring from one compartment to the other.

I've never saw a hose set up but from what I've read the seal is bad between the hydraulic and rear end causing the hydraulic to fill up the rear end. The hose will keep the levels the same. Cheap fix because only way to fix properly is to split the tractor in two.

That's called . Well I better not say what we call it. But it's a way to not fix something that needs fixed.

True it's not a proper fix but the proper fix will require one of two things to correct it. Money if you can't do the work yourself or time on your part to split it and fix the seal. Sometimes you don't have either option. From what I've read this fix won't hurt a thing as the same fluid is in both compartments.

Hey guys this forum has helped me a lot so I decided to join. As you were all talking about the extra hose to keep fluid levels the same in transmission and Hydrolics I just had this happen and need tractor fixed asap the drain plug on transmission has some crazy super corse threads has anyone found a fitting to thread in to that plug ?

Duckmen52, the 1 tractor I've come across with that "FIX". the rear drain plug had been drilled and tapped to 1/4" npt same had been done to drain plug in torque tube.

KJCHRIS- Thanks for the reply, that’s what I planned on doing. also what seal actually is going out in the tractor that causes this? I plan on splitting the tractor when I have time to repair this. Is there anything else in there I need to look at or replace wile it is apart ?

Actually 2 places.
#1. The lower shaft is the PTO; it has 2 seals 1 facing each direction. Note direction each seal is installed and replace the same.
#2. The upper shaft is transmission input; it also carries & seals the power-director in the torque-tube. The trans input seal can also fail and should be replaced while tractor is split. Again make note of how seal is installed and replace in same direction and depth. Also the 3 sealing rings ( steel ) should be replaced. IF your finger nail catches in grooves where they've been running you must replace the bearing/seal retainer. You must remove the 3  lines & cover from R H side of torquetube and remove the 3 stubby steel lines before splitting.
IF you don't have 1 buy/borrow/steal a service manual before you tackle this.
