Guys, Rick from MO. (great guy) told me to replace my Oil Seals because the oil was getting on my brakes so I ripped out the old oil seals and ordered new ones from Sandy Lake. The seals that I got are not like the old ones. Let me explain: The old ones were flat all the way around the seal and had spring inside the seal that kept the seal tight against the shaft. My new ones (pictured below) are a "cup design" where the seal is on an angle and looks like a "stretch fit" that seals against oil. First question is have you guys used these and are they just a new and improved style or are they cheap and I should look for better? Second question is am I right in assuming that I would install these with the open side of the cup facing outward so it acts as a "lead-in" when the shaft from the final drive goes in there? | Spring goes toward the oil. Be sure to check the axle surface that the seal rides on, for wear. might need a speedy sleeve... |
