Can the hydraulics be damaged when the scoop refuses to lift the heavy load? Can I still use the rear hydraulics to elevate my grain wagon while the front scoop has tried to lift the heavy load but can't lift farther and I need to empty the grain box?

No and yes. Pump has a pressure relief in it.

Thanks for your reply. I have a front/back valve with a lever which should stop one or the other from lifting. I think the valve is allowing some oil to go both directions regardless of the position of the lever. Perhaps I should replace the valve. I have no idea how old the valve is.
