Have any of you guys built your own roller for the field? I am giving it some thought. I Only need like a 20 foot roller nothing huge.

How thick of iron would i need you suppose? I have an iron supplier that can roll me the metal. i can weld the joint thats no problem.

We used an old propane tank. Tongue off a manure spreader and the frame cut and welded up for frame around the tank. Bought some big bearings and put it all together. We use it for 50 acres. Does what we ask for about 200 bucks. Just an idea

I will have to agree with Chris.  I just saw one made from a 250 gallon LP and it looked pretty slick.  You can add water to make it heavier and then drain it out when you are done.  Just make sure you void the tank before you do any welding on it!!!

I am sorry but I refuse to weld on a propane tank. Plus it wont be nearly wide enough. I want something atleast 20 foot wide. A propane tank is maybe 13 or 14 foot long.

Transporting a 20 foot wide tube down a roadway might present a problem in some areas.

it will be no different then pulling an 8 row stalk chopper down the road or driving the combine down the road with an 8 row head on it.  Or pulling the 8 row planter on the road. People need to realize that its a piece of farm machinery and they will get out of the way.

Buy a bigger tank!---neighbor has a 50' long tank that he uses for his grain dryer fuel!---they come in all sizes, and hire a welding shop to do the welding on it! thanks; ac fleet
