Getting to the point the stripper plates are getting pretty worn. Really could stand to change a seal in one of the row units. Can the stripper plates be changed while its sitting on a header cart? I would like work on it in my shop this winter but cann't fit the combine and head in my shop. The shed the combine sits in during the winter is not snow plowed to ( not my decision).

I would think the cross bar of the cart would be in the way. can you stand it up on its back ona sled/skids and pull it into your shop? that's how I work on my cornheads if I have to do anything major. sure is nice just standing/sitting there doing the work!

You can. I have taken row units off on header car, removed spirals and flutes, and other repairs as well, on a cart

Take a good look at the roll points too. If they are worn, and you put new flutes on, the stalks won't feed into the rolls correctly since the new flutes will be tighter. If the back of the spiral where it meets the flute doesn't come to a square corner, it will probably be best to put new points on.
