I have a question for someone who is familiar with Gleaner combine engines: The question is Will a 1977 model 2800 AC diesel from a F2 combine fit in my 1970 AC 180 tractor that has a model 2800 in it?

Front plate will have to be changed,fly wheel, inj. pump shut off, or put electric shutoff on tractor. MACK

Thank you very much for information Mack and Doug!!!! I noticed the specs on the different years and models of tractors that the rated HP is different. The 180 HP was rated lower than the 185 HP. Is this due to the 185 being turbo charged?

A 185 is not turbocharged from the factory. The 185 is rated at more hp due to being run at 2200 rpm at rated speed, compared to 2000 for a 180. The injection pump for a 185 is set for slightly more fuel delivery as well.

There may also be issues with the oil pump and pan. If you stay with a cam driven oil pump, then obviously you need a cam with the gear to drive it. I think that the crank driven oil pump requires a front axle modification to make it fit.

if the front of the pan has a bulge in it- you will have to drop the axle 4" or the side frames will cut the pan. The Top rear holes in the 4 bolt rear plate will have to be bolted in the bottom holes and the round pivot on the front axle will have to be cut off and spaced up the same amount. Will have to use the 180 front pulley. The snout of the crank driven oil pump 280o is longer than the cam driven one.
