I am looking at a 7020 and i noticed when the PTO is engaged at an idle i hear a little gear noise. It goes away at a little higher rpm. Is this normal? Also how critical is the use of Allis hydraulic oil. Is universal okay? Thanks to all.

In every 70xx series I have ever run, you cannot tell if the PTO is engaged or not, just by listening, Idle or otherwise. I wonder if this tractor did nothing but PTO work, and the bearings are worn?

Any rattling or noise in the PTO driveline could/would be considered somewhat normal under say 1500 RPM's. Oil temps have an affect on this....cold oil being quieter. Torque limiter spring center condition does too. When in the cab with the windows closed, I doubt you hear anything. Some tractors may be quieter than others, but that doesn't mean condemnation of one that is a little noisy at an idle.

Cannot hear anything inside the cab. Only if you put your ear next to the pto shaft. Thanks a bunch guys. What about the oil? Thanks again

If it meets A-C 821 or 821 XL specs, it is fine.
