Hi... I am looking for input on getting a Backhoe for our HD3 Allis crawler...
Can someone tell me if there is a chance of even finding a I 400 or be able to tell me what kind of backhoe can be used?
All help appreciated
Thanks Joyce

Years ago when I lived in Saskatchewan I had a H3 loader with a backhoe. It was a very handy machine but was probably scraped about 30 years ago.

Hi there Don.... Greetings from Sask.. What kind of backhoe did your H3 have....? Have you ever heard of the I 400 backhoe... It is mentioned in the repair manual... would love to get my hands on one...lols Looking for a repair manual for the I 400... perhaps could build one ourselves... We are from northeast Sask. Thanks for reply Joyce & John

John, the I400 probably refers to the backhoe that they used on industrial Allis tractor/loader/backhoe (TLB). Mine would have been sold originally as the crawler version of the TLB and the hoe would have been the same as used on the tractor. There was a frame on the back of the H3 and the hoe had two pins at the bottom that hooked into this frame and then two pins at the top were inserted into the frame. When you wanted to mount the hoe you uncoupled the supply and return quick couplers on the back of the crawler and connected them to the respective quick couplers on the hoe. This way you had power to the controls on the hoe to help you hook it onto the frame. You would reverse the procedure to take it off. I usually ran it most of the time with the hoe off and would clip it back on when ever I needed the hoe. You need to look for a scrapped Allis TLB and take the hoe.

Thanks Don... Our HD3 has a 6-way blade on front... I'm not having much luck with finding wrecked TLB... not that many around here but shall keep looking... I ordered the manual for the I400 perhaps that will help... Thanks for taking the time to share your info... John
