No rain for 2 months, but today I go get the neighbor's 60, go 100 feet and get dumped on. Decided to make a few rounds anyway to see how things worked, biggest problem was the reel slipping. I can't adjust the height and I think it is too low for how tall the rye is. I also had a problem with it wrapping on the outboard side....otherwise it worked ok.

It makes a good step when checking how much rye is in the hopper.....

ELDON IF THE CROP IS WRAPPING AROUND THE REAL SHAFT THE REAL IS SET TO LOW, WE JUST CUT RYE TODAY WITH A BINDER AND SOME OF IT WAS FIVE FEET TALL SO I HAD REAL SET AS HIGH AS IT WOULD GO.

I kinda figured that, but the real height is rusted in place....I picked the header up as far as the cylinder would go, that helped but was still a PITA. Got her done, tho, probably as much rye on the ground as in the hopper....glad I only had 3/4 acre to do.

Well, I figure I have about 18 bushel in the barn....will save some for my cover crops and probably sell the rest to the organic farmers in the area. Now I need to decide if I want to keep the combine as the neighbor wants to sell it....I think I can get it working better, but I really don't have a good place to store it....
