A good friend of mine recently bought a 6060 that appears to be in descent shape, but has an issue that I fear is going to cost him a tractor splitting job. What the issue is, is that when he has the PTO seasonal disconnect hooked up, and the PTO clutch dis-engaged, the PTO will turn when he steps on the foot clutch. Soon as he lets his foot off the clutch, it'll stop spinning. Doesn't sound good, does it. Any ideas as to what's going on? I am not very familiar at all with 6060's, but I told him I'd post the question on here for him. Thanks, Darrel

My guess is the crankshaft thrust bearing is allowing the clutch assembly to move forward when the foot clutch is depressed. Could be just a case of adjusting the cable for the pto hand clutch on the right side of the operators seat to make the issue go away, maybe for the time being.

May be some broken springs in the pressure plate too.......or we've seen alot of weird things happen inside a bellhousing on any color tractor........Amos could have a point too, does it have the thrust brg support on front of the engine, and if it does is the bearing still good? It too is a release bearing.....I'll try to post a pic of a core pressure plate just so you'll know what it looks like. If you do have to replace the clutch, go with Hy Capacity, if you don't have a dealer nearby, be glad to help......
pic wont post grrr

Never heard of that complaint, but I'd suspect while the PTO might turn when he depresses the foot clutch, it will NOT pull any kind of load if a PTO shaft machine was connected to it. In that sense.....why worry about it???
