We never cut them when they were so green like that.

It's actually a filter on my phone that made it look more green than what it actually is. Made the picture look a little cooler

Do you bale em for hay , or do you run over em with a pick up head to separate the oats from the straw?

I bale them. I have done oats 2 years now and will most likely put alfalfa back in next year.

 I had a neighbor cut green oats after they headed out and he baled them for hay. He said the calves would go to that before the "good hay" . I think he just planted them for cover crop for the alfalfa and didn't want to cut the oats off first, so you learn sompin new every day!
