I have two plows.  One with solid moldboards and one with slatted.  Is one more valuable that the other.  Why is there a slatted moldboard?

Slat bottoms were for better cleaning in some sticky soils, not sure if its more valuable than regular bottom.

No they are not more valuable . It is a moldboard to use if you have "sticky " soil .

Slats were commonly used in river bottom gumbo type soil.

Slats were considered to be easier to pull. Around here they used to bring more than a conventional plow, but I havn't seen 1 sell for years.

The slat moldboards will scour where solid moldboards won't. By removing part of the surface area(slat moldboards)the remaining part(slats) will have more pressure on them from the soil and sticky soils won't stick to them. Bought a new 2000 Monoframe way back with 387 bottoms and they would not scour. Changed over to 394 slat bottoms and it was the best plow I ever had.
