The pictures are of an IB/B, serial number B82675 (puts it in year 1948 by following the B serial numbering scheme; there is no "IB" stamped). Side plate says it was purchased from the Frantz Tractor Company, in the Bronx NY. From discussions with the past owners, it was purchased by the City of New York for use at the City's airports (perhaps for plowing and towing). Seems to be a hybrid IB/B. Anyone have any information or thoughts?

Pictures are available on Photobucket at:

Thanks --
Peter

I have an IB sn IB 1855 with a cab and a heavy duty snow plow that was said to have been purchased by NYC to plow sidewalks. The hardware on the front of yours is for a snow plow. I have that and the snowplow to go with it. I have e-mailed NYC asking for any information that they may have on it. I wonder how many they bought.

The one in the pictures is just any ordinary B with the wrap around frame from an IB added.

I agree with Lonnie.  Interesting modifications to a B though!

I thought that the torque tube on the IB was shorter than the B so the wrap around frame of the IB wouldn't fit a B with rotated finals?
Oh, by the way the link didn't get me to the photobucket pics.

There are metal plates on this tractor to make up the difference in length.

I have to agree with Lonnie.  However, they are most interesting modifications made to the B.  It looks like an IB frame with "extensions" added.  Makes the unit much better and more adaptable for industrial work.
They do a lot of interesting things with my favorite.
Good Luck!

It does have the IB pivot frame to the B wishbone axle. It might have been a special industrial B put together for a special use like plowing snow. It was built for something heavy on the front.

Well, I finally got to PPACHE'S photobucket site (thanks to Dick L) and the pics show an IB "pivot frame" adapted to a Std. B. BUT, the finals are NOT rotated. (nor is the front end lowered to match.).

Definitely a standard Model B with adapted & extended IB steel frame. Looks like it was done professionally by someone. (Frantz?) I agree with Teddy on the snow plow hardware up front. It would also make sense that if it was designed to plow the airport area's, the need for the short wheelbase wouldn't be needed if not designed for sidewalks and more for large areas around the airport like hanger area's, lots etc. There was a lot of cool stuff done to these Tractors over the years during production. Especially on the B in general!
