Hello!

We are working on a AC 5040.

Customer Complaint:
1 - No Pwr Steering
2 - 3 Point Hitch won't work

What we have done:
1 - Changed hydraulic fluid suction filter and all o-rings on suction tube/cap.
2 - Changed power steering fluid filter and o-rings in remote reservoir under hood.
3 - Resealed both hydraulic pumps.
4 - Visually inspected pressure relief valve.
5 - Visually inspected cylinder safety valve.

Where we are now:
1 - Power steering weak when tractor is parked, improves when tractor moving.
2 - 3 Point Hitch now lifts, BUT
    a. With test weights, 3 point hitch oscillates up/down when tractor running and hitch control lever is in max lift height position.
    b. With test weights, hitch slowly drops when tractor not running.

Important Note: if we adjust the draft control sensitivity regulating lever all the way to the "-", the oscillating is almost eliminated, but the hitch still slowly drops when tractor shut down.  If we adjust the draft control sensitivity regulating lever all the way to the "+", the oscillating speeds up and is much worse, and the hitch still slowly drops when the tractor is shut down.

I feel like I'm close to solving this one, but need some help.

Anyone?  I can get videos/pictures if necessary!

I'm having the same problem with a 5040 I'm working on. What did you ever figure out on your tractor?

Thanks

I've messed with the Fiats in branded AC,Long and Oliver a good bit.The first thing is to make ABSLOUTELY sure there is a good seal on the plate where the hydraulic oil screen is located any suction leak there will screw up the whole system. The next thing I'd do is to hook a hydraulic hose into one of the remotes and hold it open to purge all the air out of the system. You can put the end of the hose into the hydraulic oil filler hole.
