I have a customers D14 in the shop that the power steering only worked in one direction due to a broken power steering cylinder rack. I repaired the broken rack and I then discovered the power steering system is pulling in air and pushing oil out the fill hole real bad. That probably explains why the factory power steering breather cap was in the tool box and the filler hole had a plastic fitting screwed in it and a long hose ran up to the top and looped down behind the grill screen. I double checked the nuts on the suction line and they are tight. So I guess I am wondering if I have a bad seal on the pump shaft or maybe a crack on one of the flares on the suction line. It appears to have a later PS pump on it, as the frame has been notched for the relief valve plug. The notch may of been done fairly recently as the metal is still shiny where it was ground out, so the previous owner may of tried a different pump already.

Anyone have any thoughts on this problem?

Thanks!
