I started getting my disc ready for field work and thought this would be a good year to really go through it by replacing the bearings.  Placed a call with Brenda at Sandy Lake and she looked up the AGCO price which turned out to be about $340.00 per bearing assembly (part # 70330133).  That's a lot more than I wanted to spend.  She mentioned that some people replace the wood bearing with three metal bearings instead to make up the width of the original bearing.  Before I go that route, does anyone know of any aftermarket sources for wood bearings of this type?  Are the aftermarket bearings pricey also? Or has anyone made these wood bearings themselves (I'd assume they would be hard maple or oak)?  Lastly, it seems that replacing them is pretty straight forward but are there any tips on doing so or anything I need to do to prep a wood bearing?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.  I know it has been mentioned in some other posts but I am very impressed with the customer service at Sandy Lake.  It's refreshing to be really assisted with questions, and have a business who takes time and effort to help a novice out.

wood? don't understand - 70330133 is a roller bearing.
BalPAk - We repair the 70330133 if your core is good for $100
If you have wood boxing - you can't use the 330133 ...

Thanks for that information.  I was misinformed awhile back that the bearings on this disk were wood.  This new information makes me feel better.  I will PM you for more info.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a 20 series disc for a CA, and I was wondering if they use a certain type of disc blade, or are they universal? If they are Allis specific, does anyone have 4 they could spare?
Thanks
