I made a deal with the dude over the phone last night. He didnt act very excited to deal with someone 5 1/2 hours away. Tentatively i will be heading that way to pick it up. People put stuff for sale on craigslist and then when someone from a good distance away want to do business, they are hesitant and want to back out. Hopefully this works out and he is a man of his word.

Well now evidently there is someone else who got presidence over me and is ahead of me too buy the thing. Musta got offered a lot more jing!! I've had this happen too me a couple of times on craigslist buys. Getting kinda used to it now. Seems like if you don't live within 100 miles radius you are sxxx out of luck. I'm not bitching just sayin it sucks.

Me too, Person selling doesn't know what he has and he gets 30 people calling who want it without asking too many questions or dickering on price and suddenly the light bulb comes on,,,, Just had that happen to me last week on a non-Allis item.
Not bitchen either, it does suck however.

Luke, you should have asked one of the guys in the area to get it for you. After all, isn't that what the Allis-Express is for? I'd a done it, but its on the other side of the state. Good luck and have a safe trip. Do you still have my cell phone # in case you need help half way back?

Similar thing just happened to me on an AC item. As soon as the seller found out I was 250 miles away, his tone changed. He was hesitant to sell, but agreed anyway. A big snow hit & it was a 7 days until I could ready to pick it up. He then says he already sold it. On the other extreme though, I had a guy over 450 miles away take a personal check for another AC item last fall & held item till I picked it up last week. Great guy to work with..

I talked to him yesterday and he said a guy was suposed to come from iowa for it, I figured it was you, told him if you didnt take it or want it to call me and I would send him the $$ right away, but He never called me either, so it wasnt me but I tried

I saw one last year along with a lot of other A-C items from a former/farmer dealer. Hippy sister with the estate ended up getting talked into scraping everything instead of taking a good offer. Too long a story. I did get a new in crate lighted dealer sign never installed and 90 NOS plow shears.

What it boils down to. The guy was not honest, and someone closer talked him into selling it to him. IG
