https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2017/10/16/a-2-year-olds-kidney-transplant-was-put-on-hold-after-his-donor-fathers-probation-violation/?utm_term=.5bcc9412346a

I don't know which is worse, the hospital denying not because of drugs or disease, or the fact that the father can't stay out of trouble long enough to save his child

I'd like to know HOW a person born without kidneys has survived for 2 years !!!
Gotta be on some kind of machine ?? if so, the transplant could be cheaper ?? hmm... maybe THAT'S the real reason...hospital's making more $$$ before transplant.
Man, I'm getting cynical in my old age....

it is truly sad what this family is going through.

Since the donor (father) is now out of jail and if he has no physical problems preventing him from being a donor I think they should go ahead with the transplant. Maybe this would help him straighten up and stay out of trouble. Law enforcement has done all they can to make it happen but the hospital is playing games.

Sounds like the medical folks are giving the father a huge incentive to walk the line.

I haven't really kept up with the story but the radio said it would be February before the probation period on the father would be over and some doctors are saying the child might not live until February. Very sad. They ought to knock the bastard out, take the kidney, and then send his ass to jail.

Heard on the news today that he has received a kidney from an anonymous deceased donor and is doing well. The negative press probably made the hospital get off their rear and get the job done.
