hello and think you for reading my post. i have a 1957 D-14 it need's a clutch in it, but the problem is the lift is acting crazy. from time to time it wouldent lift all the way up. about 1 in 20 times it would do this. i just let it down and pick it back up and go. but now it started letting down real slow. i mean SLOW. and it wont lift all the way. i am a meachnic by trade but i never worked on a allis-chalmers before. to me it act's like the control valve is bypassing. so i wonder if thare is a website i could go to and have a look at how it all go's togather, and does it come out from the bottem of the tork housing?

You can get the best help by buying a manual from Darin and helping support this site.

There is a good picture of the pump broken down and individual parts numbered.
You could have a bad O-ring, a broken spring, a piece of dirt in the seat or a ball that doesn't seat properly anymore.

The D-14 pump sits at the bottom of the oil sump.  Take it out - with a manual - and start to clean it.  You will find the problem rather easily.  Just remember to keep the parts in order so that they go back exactly the same way.  It was suggested at the factory that when working on a pump keep the parts immersed in good clean diesel oil.  If I recall correctly the first of the four pump plungers is rather small since it is in operation almost all the time to keep pressure constant.  Occasionally we had trouble with the valve arrangement being out of wack and only the number one small cly acutally working.  That caused very slow lift.  I think it was caused by pump linkage being out of wack.  In any event I only worked on a few since the D-14 was rather new at the time and required little work.
Good Luck!

I was reviewing my older messages tonight and ran across this one.  12volt, I can't help you with the line on your pump.  I went to AGCO Parts site and can get the parts numbers for a D-14 but could not get the pictures.  I did want to say that there was a ball that had to be exactly placed before closing up the pump.  If that ball was not placed only the small cyl was active.  Thereby the lift worked very very slow.  If you can get a manual it would be most helpful.  Let us know how it goes.  We did very little work on the D Series tractors since they came out late in our dealership career.
Good Luck!

Bill Long: think you again. when i took the pump apart the spring in the small cyl. was broke into pieces. the rest of it looked real good. the line i was talking about goes threw the housing to oil the bearing from the back side of the tork shaft or front side i should say. but anyway i replaced all the O-rings i should get the spring in on monday. cant wait i have lot's of work to do. when i get going i will let you know. think's agian.
