Key is not working for my f40ps forklift. Have to start with screw driver. Wondering if anyone has the wiring diagram for this model?

You may get away with checking continuity in the wire going from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid, it could be broken somewhere. If the wire checks OK the problem may be in the ignition switch itself. A simple fix would be to install a separate push button switch to do what your screw driver is doing now.

I agree with Eric.... dont have a drawing for that machine, but any wire diagram would be basically the same... You turn on the switch and it sends power to the coil and power to the starter solenoid...  Since it starts, you are getting power to the coil... When you go to the second position on the switch, you should get power to the starter.. Problem is key switch, wire to the solenoid, or the solenoid itself.

Check power at the small terminal on the solenoid, with the key in the second position (START)..

GENERIC drawing.......

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Thank you very much! It turned out it was the coil wire that broke from the main harness. The whole machine is a wiring nightmare so we just bypassed it after 6 hours of fighting with it
