Metal carports ?

   Thinking of putting up a few sheds for vechiles etc; looking at the metal carports now ; with them being installed they dont seem like a bad deal - anyone have experience with any of them ? Just out checking them out a 20-24 7 ft tall $2200, dont seem bad to have the finished product? Opinions ?

	In-laws have had several between 2 houses and they've never had issue. They had 2 at their old house that were installed before me and Danielle got married I think. That's been almost 17 years and, far as I know, they're still there and being used. I know they were there and being used in '20 because that's when we all moved where we are now

	Problem of those in midwest is wind. Have to set a decent footer Or slab with bolts to situate or have anchors set in soil to keep from diaphragming and flipping over. Drive in anchors do not work, where need to be to concrete or screw in like utilities use for poles just smalled.

They seem to hold up fine except in high winds. Also the little screws that attach the legs to the base are insufficient. Attach to a footer and upgrade some of the bolts that hold it together and you’ll do good. ]

	I had them come in a put up a 20' x 45' x 16' to put my combine in for a few years until our permanent shop/storage gets finished. Been up 8 years no issues at all. We put it on rock, with the standard screw in tie downs. We have had some serious wind since then and have had no issues. We put opening to the east. we are selling it now becasue our shop is going up in November and I have several people in line to buy it.

	Glad I didn't put one up but for a different reason. Vandalism Had all 4 tires on a landscaping trailer and right front and right rear outside tire on a one ton dump truck punctured a couple weeks ago. About a thousand $ and there up and moving again but moved to a safer location.

	I've helped install several. Both open, and fully enclosed. Do anchor them down well. I use mobile home anchors and their straps which install easily with a half inch drill to drive the anchors. I don't use the supplied lock washers and nuts, but rather use flat washers and nylock nuts. Also like #10 Tek screws into the vertical risers to attach the anchor straps.

	we have a 22x24 car port (versa tube) it's been here about 40 years, has withstood 80+ MPH winds numerous times, only thing holding it bto the ground is 6- 5/8 inch rebar with a nut welded on the end, pounded down 4 ft into the dirt. it is open on all 4 sides with the roof extending down a couple ft on each side. not sure how tall it is, but my 7010 fits in it. i have 2 new one frames i haven't installed yet, prolly wait for when we build a new house and put them there.

	About the same thing as Shameless but 1/2 inch rebar half the years and pointed east, so far so good. Forgot I added sides to mine also.

	Wife's aunt had 2, never had a problem with em. I moved here in 1986. There is a business along the highway that had one put up in 87 or 88. They have never had an problem with it but it is needing paint.
