7020 trans started acting up today. At times it acts like it is in 2 gears at once and chokes engine down, seems to snap into all the gears when moving shift lever. Don't have time now to work on it now, but thought yall would know what was broken inside and I could get parts ordered. Thanks

Sounds like a sticking clutch pack plunger valve due to oil that may not be clean. Let it sit overnight and go cold. Tomorrow morning shift from reverse thru 6th gear and back several times shifting as fast as possible. Then, you can try it and see if all is well. Hopefully, you haven't smoked a clutch pack. I like to change oil (8 gall) and filter every 500 hrs AND clean the suction screen to monitor what is going on.

Don't use it until it is fixed. Dollar cost will go up. MACK

I had the exact same thing happen on our powershift. Stuck valves in the valve body.
It didn't take more than a minute or two to burn up a clutch pack. A tractor split and $11,000 later, and it's as good as new. Good luck! |
