    Posted: 21 Sep 2020 at 7:11pm
I just recently purchased a used 1975 Allis Chalmers 185 Diesel tractor. I was hoping to find a used ROPS for the tractor and was hoping someone could recommend a manufacturer of knew of a used one I could pick up.
Any help would be appreciated.

Dave, Thanks for the reply. I am probably wanting the entire package, ROPS and fenders. Most likely I'd have to get a canopy separately unless they came with metal canopies.

We have the ROPS and canopies available new, patterned after the original solid upwright design. We have nothing for used though. ROPS and canopy available separately. Will be a palletizing fee if cannot pickup in Milwaukee, WI.

I just purchased a new ROPS for my 185 from IronBull in Indiana. This is the first ROPS for an AC tractor that they have made. I love it. Call me at (740) 817-0137 if you have any questions or want photos, etc. Thanks!

Iron Bull doesn't make ROPS for A-C tractors. The only place you can get them is General Backhoe Service at 414-651-9017, we get them there, located just outside of Milwaukee. The ROPS & canopy is copied from the original A-C solid steel design, complete with hardware.

Alex, is this a factory seat on this tractor. Do you have a pic of the back of seat? Thanks, Tracy

Iron Bull makes canopies for all AC tractors. They used mine to copy to original specs. 170/175180/185 and 190/200 and 210/220s. So the guy is correct.

Just received some advertisement from iron bull. They do have the ac roll bars. I don't understand how they can be so expensive and not certified.

I have tried to upload a photo of my AC 185 tractor with the ROPS from IronBull, but not sure I was successful.

ROPS is rollover protection. More than likely, the product Iron Bull is selling is a canopy support, not certified for rollover and not saying it is. Two completely different items. Would it be helpful in a rollover, very much so. But if your injured, you would have no claim with them.
I have 2 200's with Year-A-Round cabs, all glass removed. We use them as utility tractors. Better than a canopy for rollover but it's not "factory". Still keeps the sun from bearing down on you. Occasionally someone here will post an aftermarket cab for sale for a 185. If you're not in a big hurry and just want a roof over your head and spend lots less, it is an option.
Good luck.

You are correct, it is not a certified ROPS; however, after touring the facility at IronBull, I am confident it is very close to being certifiable in my opinion. Anyhow, all I was after is a really nice looking ROPS type of canopy to keep the sun off me. It helps tremendously with that, and it is very well made. I would never sue any company if I rolled over the tractor with or without an approved ROPS system, so I guess I really didn’t care about that. Take care.
