Does anyone have experience with power steering shimmy or wobble on a wide front D19 Diesel, and what you did to fix it?

Can't say I've ever had that on a wide-front, but for sure on a NF. I'd begin by making absolutely sure there is no worn/loose steering components in the front axle itself. There cannot be any looseness in tie rod ends or spindle arms that are keyed to the spindles. Once everything is tight, set the toe-in to 1/8" at a height of the center of the front wheel. Tire pressures must be equal, probably 25 lbs. If you still have issues, the problem is likely in the steering valve. |

I would also check the universal joints in the steering linkage going from the steering wheel to the front end. There are 2 joints, if they are worn, they could cause wobbling. I would also check the coupling where the shaft goes in the front casting as well. I am pretty sure your problem is mechanical, not hydraulic.
