Turn on all your lights and after a while check again

If the batteries are fully charged the alternator won't charge them more. Do your batteries get weak and if so do you still only show 12.5 volts on your volt meter when running? You're using a hand held fluke meter or equivalent. I've had trouble with a cheap load tester

Make sure the Regulator is properly grounded. Sounds like improper ground at the VR. With "DN" series, or external regulated Alternators, make sure the Alternator case is grounded also. If the Tractor was freshly painted, paint is a great insulator.... HTH

Be sure to verify you have the correct regulator. I got the wrong one from AGCO and after replacing all the wiring and it still not charging I went back and found they sent the wrong one.
