A broken hickory sledge hammer handle works well with a hammer....oak is also very good

It may be too late already, but if you are doing this "in-chassis", you absolutely need to put a piece of electrical tape over each rod journal oil hole to keep any DIRT from getting in there and wiping out a rod bearing when you fire up the engine.

I bought this from I guy I worked with back in the 80's. I have used it a lot, works really well on the dry sleeve motors. So far all of the end pilots have worked for everything I needed including the allis 426.

Dry sleeve motors ? Arent Alliss wet sleveved ? Water running all around them pretty much makes them wet,, Just curious

I never seen a dry sleeve allis either. I work on a whole lot more than just these tractors. Last dry sleeve I did was a farmall 169 cubic in for a 300 utility. I currently have 2 Road Runners, 2 78 trans ams, 66 charger, 65 sweptline, and a 74 hurst olds. Plus now have a 7580, 7080, and a 6080. Have owned 180, 185, and a 7060. Plus all the normal pickups and daily driver cars. Before I joined the Navy I worked as heavy line mechanic at a dealership.

I recently knocked the sleeves out of my 3700 engine and all but one come out.
I turned the block over and used a 4x4 piece of wood and a 4 lb hammer and knocked them out like that.But if your still in the tractor more than likely you will need a puller.

All your Perkins engines in 160-170-175's are dry sleeves.
