Got a great and straight old wartime WC. She is no parade queen, but fenders and all look very nice. Even the steering wheel is good. I have an arch frame wf for it as well as a sickle mower.
It is still 6v and the battery was hooked up as a negative ground. Shouldn't the ground be on the positive? It has a mag and makes a strong spark, but it needs the carb gone through as it just can't get the gas up to where it needs to go.

Originally it would have been a positive ground. But at some point in its life, it could have been switched to a negative ground - not much to change it.

The shop manual I have in several pieces should cover battery polarity. But polarities do get changed with SAE standards about 1965 no longer allowing positive ground or 6 volts.
http://geraldj.networkiowa.com/Trees has the WC manual at to bottom of the directory in 9 big pieces. Gerald J. |

do you have a generator / lights ? Does the battery charge correctly ? That's your only concern.. Don't matter which way you connect the battery as the MAG dont need it and starter dont care......... but it WAS Positive ground from the factory.
