Went to split my D17 today, and I've having trouble with the steering shaft knuckle.   The manual doesn't say anything about dealing with the steering shaft, but the gear on the end is not going through the adapter housing.   Am I missing something?    Otherwise, what's the best way to get that knuckle apart?

IIRR, the best way is to hammer the spring pin out, so only the shaft goes through the hole...Wink

Drive the lower pin out of the knuckle before you split it. Turn the steering wheel hard to make the rust let the shaft free up/spin loose from the knuckle.  WD40(or the like)  sprayed into the pin hole helps free things up.
