Just finished a refresh on my grandfathers WD! The overhaul went smoothly, thanks largely to the wealth of information shared in this forum...thanks to one and all!
Being a sunny day I decided to take it for a drive. Now a question for the collective knowledge base: what are the brackets for? One on each side, built quite heavy. |

Looks to me like something added by a previous owner. No idea what they were for.

Not sure IIRR, but, seen 'em before, I think they are the lift brackets to lift the front cultivator gangs...

Heat houser was my guess. The mower bracket was on the under side of the axle, but on the right side.

We had nothing like that for the cultivator on the wd45. There were similar brackets to hold up the elevator on a mounted picker.

My grandfather was the only previous owner and I don't know that it was ever used for any row crop work, the farm was all about cows and hay. I do remember the "heat houser" many years ago but don't remember it these brackets were used for attachment.
Thanks to those who have offered suggestions, I'm going with the heat houser. |
