I been laid up with cellulitis in my leg again for the second time for being on my feet to many hours at a time. Guess I didn't learn my lesson the first time. Only this time being on my back in bed with my feet up for long periods of time was giving me back pain so bad that I couldn't get myself out of bed and I was walking around looking like a question mark. So back to the hospital again for the 2nd time in 24 hours. Now this back pain has been there for several years but a few laps around the house chasing the nurse and it works it's way out of it an I'm fine again.... till the next morning.  But now it doesn't seem to want to go away.

A CT at the horsepital revealed the problem. I have spinal arthritis. They want me to go see a spine specialist. Anybody else been down this road or know somebody that has?
I still gots my A/C but it's clear out in the barn now.

My Goodness,,Les,,,,,,wisht I could help as I myself, plus many others on this site, have similar issues,,,,espaciaslly your neighbor across the river,,,,,but,,,,but,,,he ain't got his putor back from repairs,,so we can't call on his vast knowledge of this similar issue. BUT,,,all is not lost,,,yet,,,,next time you go see the sawbones,,,ask him/her for an application card for ,,,,,,,,,,,,,medicinal cannabis,,,,yep,,thas it. Two of my friends swear on the medicinal weed for pretty much what ails you,,,especially back issues,,!!!
Fact is,,,I'm just one more incident with MY back from going to talk with my PCP again. I brought it up to her last time and she said it was my choice. She did say the  patients she had on it were telling her it was many wonderfuls so,,,,,,there you have it. Good luck with whatever you do,,OK,,??

Well, I hate to say, but "lotsa luck".  A few people find some relief a few years it seems, but more seem to be like my dad.  He's been seeing "spinal specialists" off and on for almost 20 years now.  He's not a question mark anymore, more like a number 7.

I probably should have stuck with what I went to college for and I'd still be an auto technician today. I did work that line of work from 1979 to 1988 but in 1988 that small town Ford dealer paying me $4 an hour just wasn't enough and that job at the well drilling company paying $5 an hour lured me away. It seems things didn't cost that much them days as my twin sons were born in 1990 and the bill was only 400 bucks. I lived in an FHA loan 4 year old house with a house payment of only $135 a month. Even when I quit the well company in 2001 I was only making $12 an hour. It wasn't till I started my own business did I see more substantial amounts of income. But 27 years of it has taken it's toll I'm afraid.

Funny that you should mention wacky weed Joe. Yer talking to a fella who grew up in the 70's. Who hung out with a group of friends that had the car so full of smoke before it even left the high school parking lot.

but that medical weed ain't allowed here in Iowa. Not yet anyway. I'd have to go down to the streets in town to get it.

Opps.Correction. The nurse says it just became available. Wonder if that 1975 smoking apparatus iz still around here somewhere..............

I've got it too Les and it's not any fun.  Most days I just grin and bear it and then some days (seems like there are getting to be more of these) I have all I can do just to get out to the barn.
The doc tells me that the only thing they can do is glue my bones together.  He said "fuse" em, but then the nurse tole me they use super glue.  My BIL had this procedure done and he says it hasn't helped.
SO, as usual, I just grin and bear it and stay away from them quacks...
Back in the 60s I tried that stuff a couple of times and just got sick off it.  Didn't do anything else for me...  I guess that medicinal stuff doesn't make you goofy, but it's supposed to help.  I don't know....
I'm not much help am I............. If you find some relief let me know!!

Oh YEAH,,,,,,,,

It might help,,,,,,,,,,,after you catch her, let her go and see if NOT doin anything helps....

Les, I was having basically the same problems with my back just not as bad. Turns out a bad mattress was part of the problem so I upgraded to a memory foam. Regular walking which took off a few pounds helped also. Standing for long periods of time gives me fits though. BTW locally owned furniture store gave me full purchase price credit on the 3 year old mattress towards a replacement of my choice. Stay off your feet and take care of those legs or you won't be able to chase the nurse.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

I know several people my age or older who regularly have a small bite of a MJ edible.  They have nothing but good things to say about it.  I haven't inhaled (or chewed) since the late 60's so I don't have personal knowledge.  Been told the stuff now adays is a whole lot more powerful...

Les,
We need you better. Go see the specialists. Listen to what they say it might help. A year ago I was not in good shape with my back. But it wasn't arthritis, My problem was able to be fixed. Doesn't sound like fun with your legs either!
Wishing you the best!
Regards,

Ok after a few compromising ground rules with the nurse my back iz much better. Still sore in the mornings but after an hour or so into my day it's 100%.

No more chasing the nurse. (I knew that was coming, but she's gonna regret not getting the exercise)

I have to cut my work day down to 10 hours with a one hour break fer supper. Don't matter when I start, but after 10 hours I have to close up shop. She wanted it at 8 hours but I toll her I needed 2 hours BS time with my buddy that likes to come over to play. We gits on a roll sometimes and we lose track of time. An the nurse don't like to walk outside in the cold to shut us down but now I gotta pay more attention to the time or I'm in trouble.

One time we knew it was late, but we didn't realize it was 4.30 in the morning. Now she made us hang up a dang clock.
I still gots my A/C but it's clear out in the barn now.

Yeah, just sittin around jawin isn't good for you either.  Neither is standing.  Walking is best, but you have to hold that to a minimum also.
Chasing the nurse is also good, but catching her is what's bad for you.  It's that arching of your back after you catch her that's bad....Wink

Clocks were made to ignore,,,,wives NOT,,,,,,
Also, you can take the batteries out of a clock,,,,,, wives don't need anything to run on and on and on and on and................LOL
We all know about that time lost cause we're BS-ing, but it's usually time well spent.  How else you gonna learn things!!
Get better buddy!!  I wanna see you at Hutch next year!!  Maybe Union Grove??

I also feel a little better after getting sum exercise during the day, but pay for it thru the night! all the back specialists say there is nothing that can fix my back (yet) there are still some experimenting going on out there! as for my cellulitis, i'm on a diet of penicillin twice a day for the rest of my life. along with a few other meds! so far so good. still hafta take a Lasix once and a while along with the potassium. I should go visit the ferd dealer after taking a Lasix! the other thing that has really helped me a lot...is we bought one of those "lift" chairs (recliner) and that is so comfy and works so well with my legs, I haven't slept in a bed all year, just in that recliner. sure works good to change it's positioning with a touch of several buttons. if I press my shoulders down into it as I lay it out flat, it makes my back "pop" and that makes my back feel lots better!
