Topic: Help Me Find An AC Cab Tractor With 100hp Or LessPosted: 03 Mar 2011 at 3:20pm |

I know I posted something similar to this on the Classified section a couple of days ago but I don't think it gets anywhere near the traffic that this one does. Anyway, I'm wanting to find an ALLIS-CHALMERS tractor with cab, heat, and air that has 100 or less horsepower and I would need for it to be in KY or northern TN.
PLEASE HELP....The word MASSEY has already came up once or twice. Thanks for the help, Jeremy |

The "I" in the second sentence should have been an "it" instead don't want to give the wrong impression.

Yeah SHAMELESS. LOL
The reason we are looking for one is because my dad seen a MF with a cab at an auction and decided that the cab was the greatest thing since sliced bread. So...I'm just trying to do the right thing and point him in the right direction. He's already mentioned something about selling one of his John Deere's to get one. Better yet its been said that if an AC could be found close enough, in decent shape, and priced right, there would be no opposition to the idea of adding to the orange fleet. |

Saw a 7000 at the auction today. It was in very rough shape and the owner was too proud of it.
So I'm still lookin'. |

How far do you want to go?
B & G Equipment Hopkinsville, KY or Paris, Tn usually has something
Mayer's in Jeffersonville, Ohio
And just what do you want tractor to do?
A few years back I wanted a planter/baler tractor with a "cab", needed 90-100 pto hp, at that time a 7020 PS version in excellent condition was less money than an average 6080. It is amazing how cheap a 7020 will run at reduced load.

I'll go about 200 miles at the most. I am going to use it as a baler tractor and put a loader on it.

he he he... After staring at tractor house, fastline, and craigslist for hours everything starts to have a common problem. Either it is in Canada or it don't have a cab or it costs $20,000!!! Why couldn't AC sell more stuff in Ky. I looked at the Wisconsin craigslist and all I can say is WOW!! |

I could live with a 7040 or 7045 just no 7060's or bigger. |

I think you will find many on tractorhouse that are in good condition. The AC 7000 series is a good buy in my book. I think you can find something in the 10,000 to 12,000 range that is in good condition.

This will be close to the 200 mile limit. http://www.fastline.com/v100/Allis-Chalmers-7020-MAYER-FARM-EQUIPMENT-JEFFERSONVILLE-OH-equipment-detail-8fe016eb-8cc4-4739-9536-5ead9a0bccf0.aspx
In all honesty, if you're willing to go up to a 7040, then there's not much of a reason to overlook a 7060, as the repair and operating costs are going to be pretty much the same. Once you get a tractor with the 426, then engine maintenance and repairs will be about the same cost and fuel usage about the same. I leave out the 7080, as it seems those can be costly to maintain/repair if they're abused. I would probably try to stick with something with a 301. If compaction is a concern, then a 7000 will save you around thousand lbs over a 7010 and 20, equally ballasted. Also, with a loader, you may want a powershift instead of a powerdirector transmission? Just some things to think about. And make sure you don't put any/much credit to someone saying the machine was overhauled at such and such hours unless they have some receipts and/or pictures. I've been there and gotten burned on that deal before... Don't want you to have to go through the same frustration I went through when I tore into my 7000's engine... Hurst
