I've bought this assembly in order to get the return to sump fitting on the left side fill location. But what is it's function as opposed to the old single line plumbing. My manual doesn't show anything like this.

The transport valve may have been mis-named. Its intent (when adjusted correctly) was to allow you to pull a tandem disc and use the "Traction Booster" system to transfer implement weight to the rear wheels when desired. The first (memory) 1,000 or 1,500 psi of hydraulic pressure goes to the lift arms to pull up on the traction booster drawbar, giving you more traction. When you lift the disc at the end of the field (transport) this initial pressure is exceeded and hydraulic oil flows to the cylinder on the disc wheels. So, the single acting hydraulic system works in two-stages by initial pressure going to the lift arms only and second stage to the implements wheels. It was an OPTION on WD45's and D-series models. We had one of these Traction Booster drawbars on a 13 ft 6 inch tandem disc and a D-17 WF with DUALS on the rear !! You cannot believe the wet fields I could get into to dry them out with that set-up !!

The optional valve has a thumb knob to set it for Traction Booster position or regular hydraulics. There are times some oil has to return thru that line to sump for the valve to function as designed.
