Hey,
I have a 1940 model B that I use to mow my yard with, it has 5’ woods belly mower. This B burnt #1 exhaust valve. Will a 1955 CA head swap onto this 40 B? Just a direct bolt on? Or other modifications needed? This 55 CA head is a spare I happen to have, well I have the whole engine and tractor, but I need to cut my grass, and the B head has been at a place waiting for a valve job for over a year now, getting tired of waiting, so I’m thinking about putting the CA head on if it is a direct bolt on. What do you guys think? Thanks |

I dont know of any modifications to the head that would restrict its use... I think it bolts right on............... number of valve cover studs is all i can think of.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Thanks, glad it will work, yes the valve covers have different numbers of stud holes, but I have a valve cover for each.
Thanks |

I know what you mean, I’m about out of patience waiting on that B head, it’s really been a year, and I go up there and they tell me they will get to it.
I had to pay $150 up front to leave it there in case it needs new valves, kinda worried about getting that money back, or I would have done went and got it. |

Not your fault they didn't do anything on it. Pick up your head and your down payment and find another machine shop. Personally, I think you gave them more than enough time to do a valve job on a B head. I mean after all, their not building a blown Hemi.... Sheesh! Steve@B&B
