Based on serial # I would have expected this machine to have a 25000 model engine but instead has an engine with model # 16000T in it. I have not seen this model engine referenced anywhere and was wondering if anyone had any information on it.  Thanks!!

dont hold me to this 100% but basically the same engine with differences in power settings and supporting parts, piston pin sizes, oil cooling  etc.

Thanks Cal. I have read as much but I have not yet seen a reference to a 16000T. I have seen references to the 16000 and the 16000H and was wondering what the T designation might mean?  Thanks again, Mark

I guess my primary concern would be if this is really akin to a 'straight' 16000 or more like the 16000H; it seems the there aren't any engine kits for the 16000 but there are for the 16000H so that is driving the questions....thanks!

Thanks Gemdozer.  I just found something on TractorData that says the 16000-T was found in the HD16D and HD16AG which was the 16000H with a turbo...does that sound about right?  Thanks again!

highly doubt its a 16000.  my old 59 has a 16000 and easy way to tell besides the tag is 3 valve head.  also a 16000 has smaller main and rod journals and different connecting rods because of wrist pin size.  alot tougher to find bearings than the 1600h and 25000 etc.  trust me!

Hi Cal, everything you have stated is collaborated elsewhere as my research has indicated. What I am trying to establish is the model 16000-T based on the older original 16000 or the newer model 16000H. TractorData suggests that the 16000-T was based on the 16000H which is newer and I believe has the larger journals, rods etc.  Supposedly it was put in the HD16D from 1965 to 1974. If TractorData is correct, I see that as a positive as opposed to the earlier 16000 which is hard to find parts for. My apologies if I am not making myself clear

Try looking up info on a 17000 series engine. It was a 16000 series engine with a turbo on it. That turbo was physically much small than those on the 21000 and 25000 series engines.

Thank you ACJack. My two primary concerns with IDing the engine properly was to determine: 1) Is this an engine with the suspect 6 counterweight japanese crank, and 2) are there engine kits available if parts were needed? I believe this was an earlier motor with the 12 counterweight crank and that there are parts available....Would you concur?  Thanks again!

I can’t recall any easy way to tell which crank is in it.
As to part availability there’s a lot of part interchangeability between the AC 16000/25000 series engines. Because of that I would think you wouldn’t have too much trouble finding what you want.
