    Posted: 31 May 2020 at 10:28pm
I picked up this 8' snap coupler cultivator on the weekend, but the snap coupler hitch is not attached to it.  Having trouble figuring it out how it attaches to the cultivator and wondering if I am missing any parts.  Could not find any diagrams on the agco parts book website.  If anyone has a picture or insight to how it goes together, I would appreciate it.

Not the big orange thing behind it...

We had one of those and I used it when I was young. Can't remember exactly how the pins for the snap coupler latches were held on. We later converted it to 3 pt hitch. In the middle pic Myron take out that long carriage bolt and put your pins in for the snap coupler latches. Not sure tho it's been a long time. I did like using it with the WD45 - was a good combo.

LOL. I just unhooked from mine tonight. My lady wanted the garden tilled up. Worked great. Looking at your pictures, you might have to much. Mine has a bolt welded to the back side of each yoke. A bushing on each bolt runs inside of the slots. This lets the cult run separate from the mighty Allis, should it need to travel side to side a little. Yours looks like irons have been welded onto it so the yoke bolts and bushing can't run in the slots. Hope this helps.

These pix may help you better understand how the hitch is to work.

Thanks Dave, it looks like I am missing the bolt on clamps at the top of the curve.  Any idea how thick those steel strips are?

Gee, I will go take a measurement tomorrow and see if I can help.  Glad the pix can help.  Kinda hard to explain without a picture.  Dave

Well, I'm not real sure what you are referring to when you say bolt on clamps at the top of the curve.  The more I look at your picture, all you need to do is put the pins that stick toward the back of the cultivator through the slots on the bar behind and then a cotter key through them to hold them up there.  Make any sense?  Dave

Dave, I am referring to the flat steel pieces which sandwich the curved part of the hitch assembly to the piece coming down from the toolbar.  Looks like 2 flat pieces with 2 bolts on each side.  I would like to get the thickness of the steel plates as well as the bolt diameter.

Thanks for your help!

Oh, so do you mean the flat piece welded to the tool bar that comes down and is bolted onto the curved part of the hitch?  Looks like you have all you need except the bolts that go through the holes and there are some "brackets" that hold the hitch solid so it will lift the cultivator.  Mine was missing these brackets when I bought it (can't figure out why they would have been removed) but we simply cut a couple of pieces of flat steel for each side, drilled some holes and bolted them on.  Didn't have exact measurements of the originals, as never had them.  This what you are talking about?

Yes sir, those are what I was talking about.  Sorry for not being clear the first time around.  I'll go to the scrap yard and get some good flat stock and make a couple.

Thanks for your help!  Doesn't look like yours has ever spent a day outside in its life!

Well, it was outside when I acquired it but since then I have kept it inside.  Try to do that with most of the stuff I have, but can't with everything.  Good luck with making your brackets.  Dave
