OK, I don't have a smart phone, just a regular desktop PC, but this has ALWAYS worked for years.... I use the 'file manager' here in the 'member control panel' to upload pictures to 'my file space' THEN when posting a message, I use the green icon to copy the picture into the message. There is an upload size limit, so you probably have to resize BEFORE you send it. 640x480 (aka VGA or 'email' size) works 100%. you might try 800x600 aka SVGA). Modern smart devices take HUGE pictures(tons of pixels),so I assume that's where the problem is.. iPhones copy everything to the iCloud,always...... direct transfer to a PC is possible, easy with cable, slower via wireless.

When setting it up I did check the box to NOT put them on the "cloud" ,,,cause I wanted them on MY hard drive instead of on the dang cloud where they could get hacked easier. Think I'm gonna check the settings again to see whAt can be done,,,Thanks for the heads up,,,

I find it best, to upload to some site on the internet and then share a link here. I know a lot of guys used photobucket, but lately, they have totally screwed things up as far as I'm concerned.
I have most of my pics on my google account, somewhere, but they like to make screwball changes every 6 months or a year(just to mess up old cogders I think). I don't think there is a 'best answer' anymore. Find a way that works for you and hope you don't have to re-learn the process in 6 months! |

Click the white box arrow, then click the green tree, then select your pic. then set the size in the boxes, (640x480) then click upload, --- not hard to do since this site has its own resizer. --- most guys just post direct and all we see is a corner of something. When they do this, I just move on to the next thread and not bother answering theirs.

Joe watch loading to icloud, it gets full fast then for $.99 a month you can add more storage on the cloud and it never quits. They just keep adding $.99 to your credit card every time you runout of space.

It ain't that simple. This site was set up over 20 years ago, and considerable time was spent trying to update it in 2009. The problem seemed to be, in order to keep archives of early posts, it had to stay in the same format. If you have a better idea, have at it. I think it was Chris (Sugarmaker) who put me on to Imgur which is a free photo storage site that you can link to, to add photos to the forum. Armand

Yep Jay, feeling old....some days.
Back before they started to hold us up for ransom, Photo Bucket was GREAT. Then came the fiasco and it made it impossible to do things with pics. It's a shame because there are so many GOOD articles on here that will lose the pictures after a time. We need to buy Darin another server or something. If Chris (Sugarmaker) could write up a way for all of us to use imgur, like I did with Photo BUcket, it might help. But then like Sonny (ac fleet) says, watch out. i guess there is no good answer and that is too bad. |

Its really not that hard... but takes some time........... Go on the internet and find a photo and COPY to your desktop ( or use one of your tractor photos)... Open the photo up in PAINTBRUSH..... Click on the resize and get the photo to about 800 x 600 pixels or less and SAVE it.....( as a .jpg photo is best).......... Go to this site and click on the POST REPLY button at the bottom left of the post.... Click on the GREEN TREE icon, then BROWSE button to go to your desktop and get the photo........... There will be no problem downloading a 800 x 600 photo.

If you could get that Explorer in front of it. Tried to get up the hill in the background. Turned around and got stuck going the other way back to the house.

Folks,
The snow covered road and the posting of pictures are both slippery slopes. :) I have been able to get into Photobucket recently but I do used Imgur most of the time now. Photobucket got greedy. I try not to use them.
I have the original picture still on my new smart phone at full size. In my case it gets transferred directly to my chrome book laptop. I then download the pictures to Photo resizer HD. (app) Then I can resize one or many at one time. Open Imigr and set up folders for the subject of the picture. I take a lot so this helps me sort and store them. (I have 2500 pictures since Dec 2017) I can then select the url in Imgr and paste it in here. (Like shearing a pig: Its a lot of squealing for the little bit of hair you get!) I see there are several other ways to get pictures loaded here. We dont all have the same systems, phones, computers, .... My goal was to save the original full size, store a copy in a third party site for uploading, and reduce the picture size, to allow ease of viewing. A while ago I tried to post some very bad screen shots of this process using my old phone. It was very very bad! My new phone might be better? I dont think my way current method is any better than any others mentioned. And sure is not simple or straight forward. I am just used to doing it this way for a couple years. It will probably change again. Hope that helps just a little. And yes we squeezed the trees earlier this week: When I paste this in it looks like this without the space before the last ].
