I need to rebuild or replace the carb- looks like the model # is 13262, is that correct? Any recommendations on source for the rebuild and gasket kits? What about if I decide to get a whole new carb- are they available?

That's the model no. I have written down for mine. Need to do the same as you. There are kits available, none too cheap. Mcdonaldcarb.com has about the best deal I've found, not sure on the completeness of the kit.

Keep us updated on your progress.

Update: I wound up getting the carb rebuild kit from Sandy Lake. It was probably more $ than what I may have been able to find elsewhere, but I wanted to make sure I had the right one. I also bought new points and condensor (got that on Amazon).  I took it all over to my local country mechanic, and it looks like the root of my problem (inconsisten performance and backfiring) is an electric fuel pump the previous owner installed (an Edelbrock) that is pumping way too much fuel into the carb. So right now I'm ordering a fuel pump rebuild kit from onanparts.com and going that route (about $100). My mechanic said that between the bad points, and the carb issue, he can't believe it was even running.

Make sure the fuel return line is on at the carb to return extra fuel to the tank
