I do not have neutral between low and high.

I'm not sure that I ever did, since I bought it, in Oct. I only drove it 1/2 mile or less after it was delivered to me and have worked on it ever since. Mostly repainting, replacing both steering arms and building a hitch and 3 point so, it mostly sat in my shed.

After getting the hitch done, I hooked up my disk and did about 5 acres. I noticed while backing up to hook, that there wasn't a neutral but, I was in a hurry and while pulling the disk I shifted between H & L but, had no reason to go into N.

Today, I took it out in the field and tried to find neutral, several times but, there wasn't any place it the lever travel than disconnected the drive train.

It doesn't seem to slip, under load but, what could be wrong?

It's a good thing I like this tractor so much or............................

Try it when oil is warm know when oil is cold on my 17 it still rolls some when cold but when warmed up works like it should. Thats normal

Disk for half a day and try it.  I am sure it is there.  As mentioned above the power director clutch runs in oil, so when it is cold the oil will drag and make it feel like there is no neutral.  When the oil is good and warm, there will be a more noticeable neutral position.  It's natural.

I'm sorry, I should has given the tractor. It's my only AC, it's a D17 a described below.

I was disking for at least 2 1/2 hours and when I unhitched there wasn't a neutral but, I didn't play with it then.

Put it in the neutral position and apply the brakes. If is an oil related issue the tractor will stop. If it doesn’t stop its a mechanical issue.

I'm here at the event and I did some testing yesterday.
If you go from low to neutral, you can stop it with the brakes but, it will continue moving if you let the brake off. If you go from high to neutral, it will stop and hold still w/o the brake but, you can tell it still has a little bit of a connection to the engine.

Hopefully after the oil warms up it will work correctly. If not you may need to adjust the shims.

It sounds normal to me. That clutch isn't meant for stopping the tractor so you can get off. Doing that may kill you. Stop the tractor by using the hand clutch in conjunction with your brakes when you need the live PTO of if you do not need to leave the seat. Use the foot clutch and disengage the gear transmission when leaving the seat.

All good news.
I wasn't thinking of it as a total disconnect but, I wasn't expecting it to go down the road, in neutral.
Also, I was worried that the clutches will wear, w/o fully disengaging.

Any ideas why high to neutral disconnects more than low to neutral?

Could be slightly warped plates. Could be adjusted a tad too tight. What weight oil is in it?

 I guess on level ground my 17 will move out with the PD in nut-roll too! Since I never had one as new I assumed this was normal. Sounds like yours may not be in bad shape. May just need to be worked some.
What is the EDGETA event?

Heavy gear oil usually has a distinct smell vs universal hydraulic oil. I'd try a good universal hydraulic fluid first if it hasn't already got it in it.

It's not gear oil but, I do not know what weight it is but, it is less that 50 wt. somewhere around 20-30 wt.
