They don't call me about vehicle warentees anymore.
I stayed on the line to the last guy,
through all the "does it leak? Always starts?" questions by telling them I had a 2016 town and country.
Telling them early in the call that I had an '84 Rabbit that I do all the work on,
didn't stop the calls, just ended that one.
There are about 3 people I got passed onto.
I used a fake voice and Roger Lee for a name.
I got the big guy John Hall about 3 times and he was pissed to hear my voice,
finally put me on the DNC list.
One time a gal threatened to keep calling me.
"Good I'll waste more of your time".
 Didn't hear from her again.

AT&T now "Caller ID's" possible phony phone calls on my cell phone.  Works great, I cancel the call and then add the number to my Blocked number list.

The 'local' calls really are not local. they have a way of piggybacking on local phone numbers. In fact, it is possible your number has been used to make some of them.
I am still confident of this;

blocking the number really does nothing, as they will simply come in on another number, they have near infinite numbers to use, as they are hijacking other peoples numbers.

Yep, I got a call from ME one day.  Since I didn't wanna talk just then,,,,,,,,,,,,,I was too busy,,,,,,,,,,I didn't answer.
Afterwards I thought about it and wisht I'd a answered.  Could have given em a real hard time.

Oh yeah, my nephew, who is a cop in Chicago, runs his phone # through a few places and the last one I know is Paraguay and I answer it.  Sure enough, he's on vacation in Chi town.

I see people posting theirs and other people's phone numbers on this site.
 Bots pick them up.
That's a good way to get on a list of numbers they call.
Probably should use PMs when sending someone's number.

I picked up a phone call with no one on the other end.
On an old trackphone that I never use. It never gets calls.
After that I got a flood of calls, they might just be scooting for valid numbers to add to the call list.
