Is there a "minimum" # of bars that "need" to be installed in the machine ? We are currently running 2 in the # 2 and 4 spot in 24 % corn(none on the door thanks to Macks suggestion) and are having some splitting issues with an EXTREMELY CLEAN sample . I have the wide spaced cylinder down to 440 but am afraid to go any slower. Minimal talins BTW. Thanks

The least amount you can get complete threshing with. There is no minimum as such

Are you sure your cylinder is level? Don’t always trust the cylinder height gauges. Drop front concave door, center a rasp bar over concave @#2 position, and measure its clearance all the way across it. Adjust if necessary.

....and every one of these old/used combines has the concave door bowed down in the middle so it will touch on the ends and have a gap in the center....just saying. Doubt you could ever get it flat again. Most stuff is going through in the middle area so thats where I "measure"...usually with a flat piece of bar stock and I've only had 2 combines (A2&F2) but the gauges won't adjust to the real numbers. There is a paint marker note on feed house that says"1/4 = 3/8". LOL
