Our D-17 hydraulic arms will pick up light loads only and it is very slow. Had the pump out and replaced some parts that were in the bottom of the pan. A lot of sludge also cleaned out of the pan. We have an AC 3-14 fully mtd plow that cannot be picked up. The plow was used last yr and it was ok.
We are looking for a rebuilt pump. Anyone know where we find one?

No need for a different pump, just spend a few $ on old pump. Shim unloading valve, new orings, new check valve springs, and any thing that shows ware.         MACK

At very least, you should call Bill at Sandy lake Eqp in PA. He can advise what you should do with yours. They are not difficult to work on if you have any mechanical ability. A service manual for that tractor will tell you procedures to follow on repairs of all kinds.

I am following this because I have exactly the same problem. I have never been inside a hydraulic pump before and nervous about it.

One of my questions is will the problem be evident or how, with no experience, do I tell what needs to be replaced?

Unless there's a damaged cam follower, the parts list is only 4 or 5 small springs, 4 or 5 Orings, 4 or 5 copper washers. a couple of gaskets and maybe some shims to raise unloading pressure. It all has to be disassembled and everything cleaned and oiled. Lay everything out on a clean bench on a beach towel so non of the little balls rolls away. Balls are not always the same size. Do NOT get them in a wrong location.

Thanks for the help. We are going to try rebuilding the pump we have. Just need to find where to get the parts.

Start out, by spending $28 on a 5000 PSI oil filled gauge. Plug it into the remote connection and see what you have. On the WD45 pump, .010 shim added to the unloader spool will give you about 700 PSI more, so know where you are at, and where you want to be first.
You may just have a broken spring on the unloader spool?
