Well...anytime I've ever changed the oil in any of my D19's, they all held over 6 qts....almost 7. A 4 cyl. 226 D17 engine will hold 6 qts., along with the WD45 and the WD 201 engine. A D19 is a 262 6 cyl. engine, so one would pretty mush assume that it would hold more, since the oil pan is larger...right? Yes, they all had the right dipsticks in them...I checked! LOL!   Rick

6 quarts. It's on 2nd page. Just noticed Rick's post and that seems to make sense. Park it on level ground -  start with 6 qts. Run it and then use dipstick??

I just changed the oil in my D17 series 3 gas motor. It was parked on level ground book and everything said 6 quarts. After I drained oil and changed filter and refilled with 6 quarts and started tractor up dipstick was still at add. Actually took almost another half quart. The manual is always safe way to get you close but always check the dipstick and make sure. Sorry just my 2 cents worth
