As luck would have it, pulled the 5040 out this evening and front tire sidewall split. The question is what size can I run? It has 6.00-16 on it was wondering if I could go up to a 7.50-16?

Take the rim to your tire dealer & ask what will fit on the rim. Look at your other tire & see how much clearance you have. Would a bigger tire rub on the tie rods, etc.? I have a 5050 but it's out at the farm & I'm at home in town. Otherwise I'd go look at mine & see how much clearance there is
